gay black jericho, palestine
LGBT Rights in Jericho, Palestine: homosexuality, gay marriage, gay adoption, serving in the military, sexual orientation discrimination protection, changing legal gender, donating blood, age of consent, and more.
Gay politics in Palestine are complicated by a convo- luted history of legal codes, including Ottoman, British, Jordanian, Egyptian, and Israeli occupation. In Gaza, for example, homosexual acts between men are still illegal under the British Mandate Criminal Code Ordinance of
Israeli Gay Pride. There are avenues open to gay Palestinians to seek asylum in the Isaeli state, but there is also paranoia about intelligence sharing between Palestinian and Israeli agencies.
Since Palestine is governed by different regional legal traditions, homosexuality is illegal in Gaza but legal in the West Bank. However, LGBT-identified individuals throughout Palestine are not legally protected from discrimination. As a diaspora Jew I feel implicated in the Israel-Palestine conflict. As a gay person, I seek out people like me.
